To help you have the most successful dental experience possible, our Schouten Orthodontics team has some tips for you!
We understand that your teeth can become extremely sore after your orthodontist has tightened your braces. However, there are things you can do to prevent this soreness and improve your overall orthodontic experience. Those things are:
-Swish warm water around in your mouth.
-Have a soft-foods diet. If you eat hard, tough foods, it will only make the soreness worse.
-Take medication that will relieve your pain, like Tylenol and Advil. Make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle and only take the medication as necessary.
-Try to use your teeth as much as possible by chewing often. Chewing might make your teeth sore now, but it will make you feel better faster.
-Call our office and schedule an appointment with your orthodontist if the pain persists longer than three days.
If you do these things, you will have the comfort you need and deserve! For more information and details about how to improve your orthodontic experience, please feel free to call 801.491.9372 today and talk to Dr. John R. Schouten or a member of our friendly orthodontic team. We also encourage you to schedule an appointment if you have any concerns or if your pain has not demolished in a few days after your tightening appointment. We are happy to help you in any way we can!
